I’ve created many different cat-girls over the years - far too many to count. While love drawing cute and sexy kitties (like Amber), my favorite one of all time is the grey-haired feline above - Zira. While I don’t draw her too often, I feel my skills have improved enough that it was time to create her again.
So, at long last, I present to you my lates-
Zira: “Hello everyone!” *looks around* “Hmm...so this is the new place? I see you didn’t waste anytime posting one of those bikini-girls in here. Figured as much.”
Ah, well...you know me...
Zira: *ahem!!*
Yes...well, as I was saying, at long last I present to you my latest work., Zira.
Zira: “Well, it did take you long enough to get around to it.”
Yes, girl...
Zira: “Still, looks like you did a good job this time...and I see you drew me wearing armor too.”
Well, it was a bit of a challenge but I think that it turned out pretty nice. I actually had to try out a few different techniques.
Zira: “I like the colors too...goes nicely with my hair.”
That was a bit of a challenge...especially making the dark bands flow with the rest of the hair color.
Zira: *flows hands through her hair* “Very good...”
I must have spent at least 3-4 hours on the hair alone...and tried to take my time with this overall until it was pretty much finished. I think there are still some minor glitches here and there (especially with the flow of the hair in certain parts) but as with my recent works I fixed a good share of mistakes along the way. Definitely worth it.
Zira: Yea, you bet I’m worth it!
So, I hope you all enjoy this latest work. Please be sure to read my journal entry to find out more about Zira.
Zira: *begins to unsheathe broad sword* “You’d better read it!” *big smile* “Just kidding! XOXO - love you all!”
Ooo, this was definetly worth it the hair is really good, the time and effort you put into it shows the texturing looks nice and the way youve defined her..stomach musclular area is interesting. i think you may have used too much airbrushing..but im not sure. Because youve airbrushed and used a lighter colour it gives everything a shining effect...which everything here should have.(bwahwa contradiction <.< above her breast area i see that the texture sorta follows the skin..which is very good. If you made it do that with the rest of the body then it would give it a huge 3d effect. Personally i love the hair and her peircing eyes..i could get lost in them XD Very nice, keep it up
Thanks for the comment! The chain mail was definitely challenging, but I'm pretty satisfied with how it turned out. I did try to do a little bit of 3D warping...I'll have to do more experimenting. Anyway, glad you like her!
Heh, interesting method of delivering your own comments about it.
Some really impressive features here, and the hair definately looks awesome. I love the edges where the strands begin to seperate and certainly looks like you invested alot of time in there. That pattern on the clothing is a great touch too, but it's a little straight, and would be nicer if it matched her contours a little bit more, even if they are quite straight anyway. This can be hard to pull off of course, but I usually try using the smudge tool very gently, although this often gives too much of a blurred effect if you want the pattern to be really clear.
Anyway, some really good stuff here, you're definately improving - keep it up!
Thanks much! You wouldn't believe how hard it is to keep a 6'4" cat-girl away from the keyboard...actually I couldn't tell you either as I wouldn't even think about keeping her away.
Anyway, glad you like her. I was definitely concerned about getting her hair to look good and part of that was trying to standardize my technique. I actually wrote down the the steps I used when working on her hair to keep track of what I was doing. The more that I look at it, the more I see that I can improve on her chain mail. I agree with giving it more "flow" - I played around with using 3D transform and liquify (no relation to you! ), but those tools need a lot of care and precision to really work well. Still, it does look a lot better than some of the experimental techniques I tried out.
